Ignition Northwest

IgnitionNW is a 501c3 non-profit, fueling community through participatory arts, events, and education.

We are Ignition Northwest

We’re a federally recognized 501c3 nonprofit founded with the mission of fueling community through participatory arts, events, and education.  We do this, in part, by working to bring the Ten Principles of Burning Man from Black Rock City to our home here in the Pacific Northwest.
Our focus is on enabling people to create art by providing both grants to assist with the work, and venues where the art can be enjoyed.  Ignition is both proud and humbled to be the caretakers of the official Puget Sound area’s Burning Man regional, Critical Northwest, and decompression party, Seacompression.

While those events are the primary focus of our efforts, we do much more throughout the year, big and small.  Membership is free, and gives you the ability to vote in elections, join committees to shape our future, and attend Critical Northwest- Join us today!

Some of what we do

We hold events year round.  If you’re looking to get involved, we have a place for you!

Critical Northwest

A little taste of the Playa nestled deep in the woods of Granite Falls, participant built for one otherworldly week, vanishing without a trace as rapidly as it was built.
Critical Northwest, the official Burning Man regional for the Puget Sound area, is held each July in Granite Falls.

Seacompression

Part street carnival, part dance party, part art festival, always unique and memorable: Seacompression is the official Burning Man decompression party for the Puget Sound region.
A welcome home to everyone returning from the dust, a final celebration before the onset of winter, Seacompression contains something for everyone, Burners and non-Burners alike.

Other Events

Craft fairs to connect community artists with holiday shoppers, tabletops at Georgetown Carnival and other local events, online events, and safe-distance art, Ignition does much more than just Critical and Seacompression.  Learn more today about what we’ve done and how to get involved!

The 10 Principles of Burning Man... with a local twist

As part of the Burning Man Regional Network, we embrace the ten principles and strive to include them in all we do- with a slight local twist.

INW has chosen to embrace “Consent in All Things” as principle zero. We see open and enthusiastic consent as the foundation from which all other principles grow. Consent is the base we build upon: without it, our community will crumble.

We have zero tolerance for consent violations. We recently formed a new Conduct Committee to receive and respond to consent violations and other conduct issues.

0. Consent in All Things

1. Radical Inclusion

2. Gifting

3. Decommodification

4. Radical Self-Reliance

5. Radical Self-Expression

6. Communal Effort

7. Civic Responsibility

8. Leave No Trace

9. Participation

10. Immediacy
